5 Stars Absolutley Amazing
Got it for my boyfriend’s 4 yr old daughter and she loved it. Wears the cape all the time. The book is cute and funny. A must have for any superhero fan.
5 Stars Super Book!
We gave this book to our grandson, who is five, and he loved it. The cape closes loosely and comfortably with velcro, and it appears to be of good quality fabric. We loved the non-violent feel of the book, and there is a good assortment of easy-to-make masks and wrist guards included. (Yarn worked well for the masks; it’s the only thing not included in the kit.) Our superhero spent the entire afternoon jumping, sliding and running, searching for good deeds to perform. He even overcame his fear of bumble bees for a little while, because superheros are afraid of nothing, dontcha know.
5 Stars Superhero to the rescue
Great little kit for little boys. My son got this as a gift at age 2 1/2 and is still playing with it at age 4 1/2. The cape is such a great vibrant red. It’s hard to find a nice cape like that. We didn’t have any problems with our velcro as it is still working 2 years later. The masks and stickers are fun but are of limited duration. It might have been nice to have a cloth made mask but then, they couldn’t pick and choose the patterns that they would want. The cape is the best thing about the kit. I have bought several of these as gifts for my son’s friends and their parents have told me what a great gift it is.
3 Stars Slightly disappointed
This is such a great idea, since there’s not a lot out there in the way of dress-up toys for little boys. However, one problem we had with ours… the velcro wore out WAY too quick. It won’t stick together anymore and my son gets annoyed as it keeps falling off. It is inconvenient to have to replace the velcro so soon.
5 Stars Nana
Bought this book for 2 grandsons ages 6 and 3 and they love it. It is very clever and funny!

4 Stars Used in my classroom and private lessons
I have used this book continuously over the last 3 years both in the classroom, summer camp groups, and private lessons. There are some fun ideas for groups not entirely focused on music as well. Church youth groups, non-musical camps, and non-musical classrooms can use this book to come up with fun game days or ice breakers.

4 Stars Cute music games
I am a music educator, and bought this book as a gift for a friend who is still in college to get her music ed degree. The games are cute and fun, but it would not be wise to use them for entire lessons, as not all of them are very musical. But, they are a lot of fun and a great way to reward students for a good day in class or just to get them excited about music. My favorite thing about this book is that it tells you how long each activity will take so that you can plan appropriately.
3 Stars Great Starting point not as musical as expected
This book gives a great starting point for creating your own games. It was not as musically educational as I had hoped. I have derived a lot of my own ideas from this book or modified games within it. This book is functional but I was not “WOWed” by it.
4 Stars Useful for teachers needed to add in music
These games are great for using music to stimulate thinking, planning and connecting with emotional response. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS BOOK if you are looking for ideas around a progressive (building each week on previously learned) music skills education curriculum. It is great for incorporating music, rhythm and sound into everyday teaching environment.
2 Stars Not as useful as I’d thought.
After reading the raving reviews I ordered the book - I needed ideas and help because I’m a music teacher who is now teaching elementary music, yet I had limited experience in that area. I couldn’t afford the Kodaly books, so I thought this would be a good start.
What a disappointment! A lot of the games involve blindfolding the students, which isn’t appropriate in classrooms anymore, especially because most elementary music classes will have 20-30 kids, no matter what size the school. On top of that, the games don’t actually involve the kids singing much - there are rhythm games, but good ones are very few.
Overall, this book seems very outdated in it’s ideas and games. It wasn’t a wise investment for me.
Fabulous Book of Paper Dolls Klutz

Fabulous Book of Paper Dolls Klutz

The Fabulous Book of Paper Dolls by Julie Collings comes with six paper dolls (with an array of skin tones), a massive mix-’n'-match wardrobe and accessories. The spiral-bound book also contains backdrop scenes for the dolls and a pull-out armoire to tuck away the natty duds. Hairstyles are interchangeable; a guide to drawing faces is included, too. The clothes stay on with “reusable glue dots” instead of old-fashioned tabs and the clothes are printed on both sides.

5 Stars Fabulous!
We got these as a gift for my daughter’s 5th birthday, and she’s barely put them down since. These are great little dolls! So many clothes and accessories that they never get old. After I helped a bit with the glue dots, she’s been able to play independently for hours, only getting up for dinner. My only issue is the storage for clothes, etc gets full quickly, but we simply put them in baggies. Highly recommended for the 4-6 crowd!
5 Stars Paper dolls with a new meaning
I bought this for the 4th birthday of my granddaughter and amidst opening all her other presents, when she got to this one, she immediately began to use it. It’s well constructed and she had no trouble getting the items “popped” out. She and her 6 year old sister played with the dolls for two days straight. It’s a far cry from the old “tab” paper dolls I had when I was a kid. I heartily recommend this as a saner alternative to the Barbie doll.
5 Stars great for airplane rides!
My three year old sat still for hours when I introduced her to this. She could even punch out the clothes herself. She needs help with applying the stickie’s for making them stick. But she used this on two cross country plane rides, and would settle down and play with them on the trip. I can’t recommend this enough.
5 Stars Perfect! an ideal toy
I gave this book to my 4 1/2-year-old granddaughter. I expected and wanted to play with her, and we started out with me doing most of the punching out of clothing and peeling backs off “stickies.” However, M. quickly mastered both skills; in fact her little fingers peeled the backs off the stickies faster than I could. She made up stories, changed their outfits faster than I could keep up, and was especially enchanted with the babies and with all the accessories. When a visitor looked at the book and said, “Look at all the wigs,” M. said indignantly, “It’s HAIR, not wigs.” Her imagination was completely engaged. She played with them for 3 hours, and then another hour before bedtime. We used a large Zip-lock bag to put everything in. You can order more “stickies” and you could probably use small pieces of double-sided tape. We could make more clothes with paper or fabric. Highly recommend for girls and grandmamas.
4 Stars Probably the best paper dolls around for younger kids
Let me start with some things I don’t love about this kit. These are ostensibly better for smaller kids than ‘regular’ paper dolls because there are no fold down tabs that could be frustrating for small hands. Instead there are double sided stickers (you can order more directly from Klutz). I say ‘ostensibly’ because I’m not entirely sure that the double sided stickers are really that much easier to deal with than the fold down tabs would be. My 4 year old can’t really peel the stickies by herself so it’s not really something she can play with entirely independently. Plus the stickies get a little messy and are generally sort of iritating to deal with. Another small gripe I have is that the storage compartment for all of the ’stuff’ pretty much sucks and is completely inadequate - I solved this rather easily by just labeling small zip lock baggies.
So, why did I give this 4 stars? Well, once you get past these 2 little issues these are some pretty awesome paper dolls! There are 3 boys and 3 girls and more clothes and accessories than I could count! And one of the coolest features is that each item of clothing, shoes, etc is reversible which doubles the possibilities. Also, the backs of the dolls are blank so you could draw on your own features. And since the dolls are so simple it’s very easy to make your own little outfits for the dolls. We’ve already made a few fun fabric dresses. Another fun feature is that there are 3 babies with their own clothes and accessories. The book also includes some fun backgrounds for even more play. All in all for the price this is a really good value and I think offers a great introduction into the world of paper dolls.

5 Stars Open Ended Lessons ROCK!
This is not an ordinary lesson plan book for art education. It is extraordinary, because it gives educators a different model for designing meaningful art experiences for students. The way in which Ken structures his lessons breaks the traditional structure. He teaches us how to make the students THINK and REFLECT in and open ended lesson structure. I can better connect with this style of teaching than the traditional DBAE lesson plan. I feel that all Art Educators regardless of the level they are currently teaching should study this lesson structure of art education.
5 Stars A MUST for AP teachers
As many have mentioned, this book is FANTASTIC. Some of the projects are ones that were used in the textbook Vieth co-authored, “The Visual Experience,” but each project is presented from his point of view with specific notes on how he taught it and made it personal to his students. It’s easy for me to map out my own project sheet when and alter it to my students’ needs. I teach AP 2-D Design, and I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone trying to break the mold with their HS students. I’ve also had my more advanced high school students look through it for inspiration and produce great results. Finally, I even use his quotes from the book about how he views art on my blackboards…I don’t know what I’d do without his books!
5 Stars Good for High School Curriculum
This is an excellent book, and an excellent resource for secondary educators. Lots of creative ideas. I would recommend it for middle school, secondary and post high school art instructors.
5 Stars Useful art projects for the art teacher or classroom teacher
As an art teacher I occasionally need a new idea to spice up my curriculum. I found this book to be a wonderful resource of innovative takes on traditional techniques.
5 Stars Unique book.
This book was purchased as a gift. It is a nice alternative to
what is available in this category.
