5 Stars Every school kid should have one
This is an amazing little book for kids. Whenever my middle school child would have a school project to do, she would bring out my scrapbooking stuff and a lettering book of mine. I saw this and bought it for her and it comes with its own cool stencils and lots of neat ideas for making letters. When they have to make posters or fancy titles for papers, this book comes out and they get good ideas on how to make their school work look nicer.
We have even bought this book as a birthday present and it was well received. Amazon has the best price, I got stuck paying retail for the ones I bought, no more though.
5 Stars Klutz books are the best!
These books are creative, educational, high quality, and fun! My children have several versions of Klutz books, and they are all wonderful. They provide a cure for boredom that both kids and adults can appreciate.
5 Stars FUN–and helpful!
Whether it is posters, shadow boxes or running for student council, my kids always seem to have “projects” to do for school. This book has been great for inspiring them to come up with creative ideas for the titles. When making the project is fun, they spend a lot more time working on it and can’t wait to get to school to show off their masterpiece!
5 Stars Another Great Klutz Product
I used this book for my church group girls ages 8-12. They loved trying out the different types of lettering for the cards they send to shut ins. The stencils were great for the younger ones, but the older ones wanted to try it all on their own and came up with some really unique looking cards. I was able to run copies of the pages and pass them around as there are 30 of them. Letters were also able to traced. This would also make a great gift for girls in that age group.
5 Stars FUN FUN FU!!!
I JUST LOVE KLUTZ BOOKS. THEY ARE FUN FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY, KIDS AND ADULTS ALIKE!
THIS BOOK IS NO EXCEPTION TO THE RULE!
GREAT FUN TO ADD TO CRAFT PROJECTS AND EVEN MAKES SCHOOL PROJECTS AND PRESENTATIONS FUN!
THANK YOU KLUTZ!!!
Chess for Children
April 29, 2009 by Leisure Activities · Leave a Comment

With this charming book, children will delight in learning the basic moves of chess - the most popular and challenging strategy game of all. All the rules of chess are clearly explained, step by step, assuming no prior knowledge. The lessons are reinforced by the inventive tales that George is told by his pet alligator Kirsty, self-proclaimed Grand Alligator of chess.
Chess is recognized in many countries as a useful tool for developing creative thinking in children. Although chess can be regarded as a rather complex and mysterious game, the rules themselves are straightforward. It doesn’t take long to learn how the pieces move, and even children as young as five can enjoy exciting games. They will also thoroughly enjoy outwitting friends and relatives!

5 Stars 5 year old learned how to play in one week
My 5 year old has learned with the help of his parents how to play Chess in one week. Neither my wife, nor I knew how to play and found the book very simple to follow. As a matter of fact our 5 year old caught on so quickly we were amazed. The easy step by step process makes it idot proof. Highly recommend.
5 Stars chess book
Easy reading and great illustrations for children to learn chess compared with other books. Great price and fast shipping. Thanks
5 Stars Chess for anyone
My kids became interested in chess after reading Harry Potter. Trouble was, I had never played, nor had my husband. We got this book to help us all out. Although it is aimed at children, it’s also great for adults. The explanations and exercises are clear and well presented. I have looked through many other books at our local library, and this one is far more helpful and pleasant to read. I recommend this for anyone who wants to learn about the game of chess.
5 Stars good chess book for a chess beginner
The book explain clearly, and its pictures make the book more fun to read. My son was 6 year old, 1st grade, when I bought this book for him. He like it.
5 Stars Outstanding
Great book. Uses things to interest kids. For example, the alligator story throughout the book is written on a kid level. While teaching chess, get them to read the conversation also. And the use of a “terribly tough test” is great. All questions are worth a point, so it gets them interested if they know they are scoring points. Much like the searching for Bobby Fischer movie. The points get them interested and wanting to do more and better. Also teaches them in a good progression. For instance, rooks and bishops, then queen. Makes sense since a queen is a combo of the two. Also gives great diagrams which they will see later with chess puzzles, such as the ones in chessmaster. I highly recommend. My son is 8. I can see this working for a 7 year old, but 6 and under might be hard.
